Two major political parties — the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) — have emerged as the most visible contenders in today’s Anambra governorship election, with their representatives present in most polling units visited across the state.
In several polling units within Awka, the state capital, only the two parties had agents on the ground, underscoring their dominance in the electoral contest.
At Awka Ward VI, specifically polling units 010, 024, and 025 located within the Federal Government Technical College (GTC), only APGA and APC fielded agents.
Mr. John Morah represented the APC, while Mr. Chukwuma Anekwe served as the agent for APGA. The Supervisory Presiding Officer confirmed that out of the 16 political parties participating in the election, only these two had agents present at the location.
When asked about the absence of representatives from other parties, Mr. Morah expressed indifference, saying:
“I have no problem with that. If other parties did not send agents, that’s not my concern.”
The strong presence of APGA and APC agents across polling units appears to reinforce both parties’ status as the leading forces in the state’s governorship race.
