Tinubu, Shettima Confirmed as Presidential Ticket as Party Completes INEC Nomination Process
The All Progressives Congress has successfully uploaded all 471 candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s portal, officially confirming President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as the party’s flag bearers for the 2027 general election.
The submission includes the presidential and vice-presidential ticket, 109 Senate candidates, and 360 House of Representatives candidates—completing the party’s nominations for all offices covered by the portal.
APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, announced the milestone on Sunday, just a day after INEC’s Saturday 6 p.m. deadline for submissions.
“I congratulate our candidates, leaders, and members of APC on the successful 100% upload of our Presidential, Vice Presidential, Senate, and House of Representatives candidates on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” Yilwatda stated.
The upload puts to rest months of speculation about whether the APC would retain its current presidential ticket, with Shettima now firmly confirmed as Tinubu’s running mate for the upcoming polls.
The development follows INEC’s timetable, which gave political parties access codes to the portal on June 26, with submissions commencing on June 27 in line with Section 29(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026.
“With this milestone achieved, our focus now shifts to mobilisation and preparations for a successful campaign and decisive victory at the polls,” Yilwatda added.
