Artisans in Delta State have expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following the appointment of one of their members, Edwin Atafiri, as Special Assistant on Artisan Affairs.
In a press statement issued by the group, the artisans described the appointment as a recognition of the vital role played by skilled workers in the state’s economy.
They commended the governor for what they termed his inclusive approach to governance and sensitivity to grassroots concerns.
“We want to appreciate the governor for seeing the need to give our member this office,” the statement signed by Uche Akabude, state secretary of the group, read, noting that the appointment has boosted morale within the artisan community.
The group also praised the administration’s performance, stating that Governor Oborevwori “has done well for the people of Delta State.”
They highlighted ongoing efforts by the government as evidence of its commitment to development and welfare.
While expressing gratitude, the artisans used the opportunity to appeal for further support and engagement.
They reiterated their willingness to collaborate with the state government to advance policies that benefit the informal sector.
State Chairman Ifeanyi Abanum, who also serves as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on the Informal Sector, joined in appreciating the governor’s efforts.
He assured that the leadership of the artisan body remains committed to working closely with the administration to achieve shared goals.
In the statement, the state executives pledged to strengthen cooperation with the government in order to enhance opportunities for artisans across Delta State.
