ASUP, JUSUN meeting with FG deadlock as strike continues

The Federal Government has cancelled the planned meeting with the executive members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Emerald News has learnt. The meeting was slated for Thursday, April 15, 2021.
The meeting was to be held with the minister of Labour and employment, Chris Ngige.
The federal government failed to disclose the reason behind the cancellation of the meetings meant to get the polytechnic lecturers and judiciary workers call off their indefinite strike action.
The unions described federal government as a frivolous government and vowed not to resume work until their needs are met.
Polytechnics and courts across the country had been shut down following the strike action by the lecturers and the judiciary workers.
Polytechnic students have been advised to go home as the strike is indefinite and no one knows the end date.
