Bagana community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State was thrown into chaos following the brutal murder of at least nine persons on Tuesday, August 31.
A survivor narrated how the bandits gained access to a provision store in the village, shot sporadically and killed four persons on the spot including the sales boy identified as Bashir Sule.
According to him, the attackers continued to opened fire as residents were hit by stray bullets while running for safety.
An oil dealer and dispensary staff based in Bagana, Alias Barrister was among those who died plus four others.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP William Aya said on receipt of a distress call, he mobilised his men to the incident scene and those injured were evacuated to the hospital for treatment.
While vowing to bring perpetrators of the act to book, the DPO said normalcy had returned to the village as people can now go about with their business.
