BREAKING: Giadom bars Tinubu from attending APC NEC meeting on Thursday

Reports reaching our desk revealed that national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will not be attending the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting summoned by Victor Giadom, the acting national chairman of the party on Thursday.

Victor Giadom was anointed by President Muhammmadu Buhari as the rightful person to be the acting chairman of the party following the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole, the embattled national chairman of the APC. Oshiomhole has been embroiled in war with the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, a development which led to Obaseki’s painful exit from the party.

In the midst of the battle of supremacy between the duo, Oshiomhole’s political ward in Etsako West local government area of the state suspended him from the party. The matter was taken to the court, the court okayed the suspension, a development which pushed Oshiomhole to become a non-member of the party.

At the pronouncement of the court, the party quickly announced Abiola Ajimobi as acting chairman of the party but Victor Giadom declared himself acting chairman. And on Wednesday, President Buhari gave his blessing to Giadom to serve as acting chairman of the ruling party.

Following the acknowledgement of Giadom as acting chairman, he called for a virtual meeting for all NEC members of the party. But going through the list of members invited for the meeting, it was discovered that Tinubu’s name is not on the list of invited members for the meeting.

His name was conspicuously missing from the list as put together by Victor Giadom. Available facts to us say his office as national leader is not recognized by the constitution of the party, hence he cannot attend the NEC meeting.

However, many party members rose to his defense, giving reasons why Tinubu cannot attend the NEC meeting. Some say Tinubu does not attend NEC meeting, he only attends caucus meeting which usually holds at the Aso Rock. They said that is the norm even when John Odigie Oyegun was chairman.

Bashir Ahmad, personal assistant to the president on new media, said: “There are some people who need to know that the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, hence, he doesn’t attend the NEC Meetings. This is very clear!”
