Retired Colonel Joseph Akaagerger, a former military governor of Katsina State and former senator representing Benue North-East, has passed away at the age of 69.
The Benue State Government confirmed his death in a statement released on Tuesday. According to the announcement, signed by Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Col. Akaagerger died on Thursday, May 15.
Governor Alia expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Akaagerger as a dedicated and patriotic Nigerian who served both Benue State and the nation with distinction.
“He was not only a distinguished lawmaker but also left lasting legacies in politics, business, community service, and philanthropy,” the governor stated, highlighting the late colonel’s multifaceted contributions to national development.
