Hundreds of residents from Oreorokpe, headquarters of Okpe Local Government Area and surrounding communities in Delta Central Senatorial District have received free medical outreach facilitated by the Senator representing the district, Senator Ede Dafinone.

The intervention, which targeted indigent and underserved populations, saw beneficiaries treated for a wide range of ailments, provided with medications, and issued corrective eyeglasses where necessary, in a move aimed at easing the burden of healthcare costs at the grassroots.

Speaking on the initiative, Senator Dafinone said the outreach was designed to bring quality healthcare services closer to the people, particularly those unable to access medical facilities due to financial constraints or distance.

The programme, he disclosed, is structured to cover four strategically selected towns across Delta Central, ensuring broader reach and impact within the senatorial district.

Represented at the medical outreach by his Okpe Local Government Liaison Officer, Mr. Yegbeburu; the senator noted that the outreach forms part of a broader health intervention strategy he has pursued since assuming office. According to him, this includes the construction, renovation, and equipping of healthcare centres across various communities in the district.

He emphasised that the initiative specifically targets vulnerable populations who are often excluded from quality healthcare due to rising medical costs and limited access to functional facilities.

Dafinone reaffirmed his commitment to delivering people-oriented representation, pledging to continue attracting developmental projects and impactful programmes to Delta Central.

“I remain committed to providing qualitative and result-oriented representation at the Red Chamber while ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach our people,” he stated.

Medical services was delivered by a team of healthcare professionals led by Mr. Matthew Uruejoma, who coordinated the diagnosis, treatment, and distribution of medications to patients.

Key stakeholders and coordinators of the programme commended the senator for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. Among them were his Liaison Officer, Mr. Yegbeburu; the Coordinator of the Medical Outreach, Mr. Henry Esiri; and Supervisor at the Border Community Development Agency, Mr. Ovie Esievo.

They noted that the outreach would significantly improve the health conditions of beneficiaries, many of whom had long been unable to afford proper medical attention.

Beneficiaries who spoke during the exercise expressed gratitude to the senator, stating that the intervention had lifted a major financial burden and provided much-needed relief.

Some of them also pledged continued support for Dafinone, citing his responsiveness to the needs of the people and his commitment to grassroots development.
