The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council’s outing in Calabar, Cross River State, on Monday, November 2, 2026, has brought renewed attention to the party’s grassroots mobilisation structure in the South-South region, with Dr. Michael Nwoko playing a key role as the Zonal Coordinator for Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation.

The political gathering, organised as part of the APC’s activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, brought together party leaders, campaign officials, stakeholders and supporters from across the South-South geopolitical zone
Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Calabar rally, arriving in the state alongside members of the Presidential Campaign Council and other party leaders.
He was received by Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, and other APC stakeholders at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport before proceeding to the rally venue at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.
Before proceeding to the rally ground, the vice president ans his entourage paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Calabar, the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V.
A major responsibility in the regional campaign structure rests with Dr Nwoko, whose appointment as South-South Zonal Coordinator for Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation places him at the centre of the party’s community-level mobilisation efforts across the six states of the region.
The states under his coordination are Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom. His responsibility includes coordinating grassroots political engagement, strengthening existing mobilisation structures, working with party stakeholders and expanding the party’s reach through community-based networks ahead of the 2027 elections
Dr. Michael Nwoko, who is also the Chief of Staff to Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, serves as the South-South Coordinator for Contact and Mobilisation of the City Boy Movement and National Convener of Youth Structure for Asiwaju (YS4A).
His involvement in the APC’s campaign structure provides a link between the national campaign leadership and grassroots political organisations across the South-South, particularly in coordinating youth participation, stakeholder engagement and mobilisation at the local level.
The Calabar outing also comes against the backdrop of renewed efforts by the APC to strengthen its political structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
For Dr. Michael Nwoko, the Calabar political engagement underscores the importance of the grassroots mobilisation directorate in the APC’s regional campaign architecture, with the responsibility of coordinating activities across six states and connecting the party’s national campaign message with voters at the community level.
The APC’s campaign activities are expected to continue across the country as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential and other elections.
