The governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress in Enugu State, Sir Chinyeaka Christian Ohaa, has called for a change in the state’s leadership approach, saying the next government must focus on job creation, infrastructure and improved public services.
Ohaa made the call on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the NDC town hall meeting in Enugu, where he also expressed support for former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, describing his vision for leadership as consistent with the need for accountability and national development.
The candidate said Enugu needed purposeful leadership that would improve the living conditions of residents through sustainable economic policies, better healthcare, quality education and opportunities for young people.
He argued that governance should go beyond political promises to produce measurable results and make government resources benefit the people.
Ohaa also stressed the need for transparency and accountability, saying public confidence could only be built when leaders placed the interests of citizens above personal and political considerations.
He reaffirmed his commitment to what he described as a new direction for Enugu State, adding that the state had the potential to achieve greater economic development through practical policies and people-centred governance.
