Chief Sheriff Oborevwori and Monday Onyeme have been sworn in as governor and deputy governor of Delta state.
They took over from former governor Ifeanyi Okowa who had led the state from May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2023.
Prior to his swearing in, he was speaker of Delta state house of assembly. He handed over speaker’s office on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
He was the longest speaker of the Delta state house of assembly since 1999. He became speaker after impeachment of former speaker, Monday Igbuya.
By his swearing in, Okowa has become former governor of Delta state.
In attendance were former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Great Ovedje Ogboru, governorship candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party, Goodnews Agbi.
However, Chief James Ibori, former governor of Delta state was conspicuously absent.
Senator -elect for Delta North, Prince Ned Nwoko, Delta south senator James Manager, minority Leader, House of Reps, Ndudi Elumelu were all in attendance.
