The deputy speaker of the Imo state house of assembly, Amara Iwuanyanwu, has been impeached, Emerald News can report.
The removal was effected on Tuesday during the plenary of the house. The removal was executed under tight security.
The impeachment notice was signed by 18 out of the 27 members of the house. It was submitted by Ekene Nnodim, who represents Orlu state constituency.
According to Politics Nigetia, the Speaker, Paul Emezim, who presided over the plenary, okayed the removal of Iwuanyanwu.
Meanwhile, the House of Assembly also recalled six suspended lawmakers of the state legislature.
