Godwin Nnamdi, a leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), was arrested by troops from the Nigerian Army’s 82 Division. He was apprehended in Enugu State’s Nkanu East Local Government Area.
“During the clearance operation, troops engaged the dissidents in a firefight, forcing them to flee, resulting in the arrest of their leader,” the statement continued.
Among the items recovered by troops were an AK 47 rifle, a magazine containing 21 rounds of 7.62 mm Special, and a handset.”
“While praising troops for their achievements thus far, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, charged them to comb and clear all suspected criminal hideouts in their Area of Responsibility.”
