Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, one of the foremost human rights body in Nigeria, has concluded plans to hold its Annual General Conference on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
The event which is holding in Asaba, the Delta state capital, is with the theme “Combatting Insecurity Challenges Through Community Policing and Rule of Law.”
The lecture will be delivered by Sir Dr. Michael Abam of the Department of Political Science and Dean of Students, Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta state.
Another Guest Speaker is Usman Muazu Muhammed who is Deputy Commissioner of Operations at Bayelsa State Police Command in Yenagoa.
Besides delivery of lectures, new members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) will also be elected to pilot the affairs of the human rights body.
It will also feature constituting of new members of Board of Trustees (BoT) as the tenure of the one led by Barrister Femi Falana has expired.
Also some members of the society who have distinguished themselves from corruption will be given recognition by the human rights group.
One of the Special Guest of Honour is Muhammed Hafiz AIG Force Secretary Abuja. AIG Zone 13, Adeyinka Adeleke is another Guest of Honour at the event.
The Delta state commissioner of police, Ari Mohammed Ali will also serve as Special Guest of Honour at the CDHR annual general conference.
The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights is the foremost human rights group in Nigeria. It has fought for the oppressed, especially against police brutality and extortion among others.
