CDHR writes letter to DESOPADEC, requests detailed information on income, expenditure, staff strength, contracts awarded, others from 2015 to 2023

 REQUEST TO FURNISH MY OFFICE WITH THE INCOME AND EXPENDITURE OF YOUR COMMISSION, FROM 2015 TO 2023 (FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2011) WITH 21 DAYS

We are Human Rights Organization committed to the protection and prevention of flagrant abuses of the right of Nigeria’s citizens as enshrined in and guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended) also to promote soci0-economic welfare of our great Nation.

Sequel to the under development and not changes of the socio-economic development of host communities within the mandate area of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, haven observed the failure and non-compliance of the commission for the purpose of the establishment.

Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission was established to manage 50 percent of the 13 percent derivation fund accruable to the Delta State to change the socio- economic development of host communities with the mandate area of the commission.

The following salient point are to be complied with by the commission management teams head by the chairman Hon. Chief Barr. John Nani.

  1. That It should be noted that the purpose of Establishment of the DESOPADAC is defeated by not promoting social economic Development of the host communities with the mandate area of the commission.
  2. That the commission should furnish the office of the National President of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights CDHR Nigeria, No. 20, Deco Road, Warri, Delta State with the follow.
  3. The income and expenditure of the DESOPADEC from 2015 to 2023.
  4. The information relating to the receipt and expenditure of the fund of the commission.
  5. Substantive rules of the commission.
  6. The names, salaries, title and dates of employment of all employees and officers of the commission.
  7. Files containing application for any contract, permit, grant, licenses or agreements.
  8. Report, documents, studies or publication prepared by the independent contractors for the commission and material containing information relating to any grant or contract made by or between the commission and another public institution or private organization.

Failure to comply with the above request we shall institute proceeding in the court of law to compel your commission to comply within the stipulated time.

However, it is a fundamental right to request for any information about public institution as  enshrined in Freedom of information Act 2011.

We are hopeful that the commission will not be partial when furnishing our office with the above information required by the organization.
