Checked In With a Lover, Checked Out in a Body Bag – Phone Repairer’s Mysterious Death Rocks Bayelsa

In a chilling turn of events that has left the Yenagoa community in shock, a 40-year-old mobile phone repairer, Felix, was discovered dead under eerie circumstances inside a guest house where he had reportedly checked in with a woman just hours earlier. The Cross River State indigene, who ran a repair stall at the bustling Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex, was last seen alive on Wednesday night when he walked into Diko Guest House along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area, accompanied by an unidentified female companion.

By Thursday morning, the atmosphere had shifted from romance to horror. A cleaner, upon entering the room for routine service, raised a frantic alarm after finding Felix lying motionless and completely naked on the bed. The woman who had arrived with him had vanished into thin air, leaving behind only questions and a scene that defied easy explanation. On the bedside table, sachets of alcoholic drinks sat undisturbed, adding an unsettling layer of normalcy to the grim discovery.

News of the death spread like wildfire through the shopping complex, where Felix was well-known and liked by fellow traders. Many expressed disbelief, with one shop owner recounting how the deceased had left with a woman in high spirits, only for his lifeless body to be found the next morning. The police quickly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and evacuated the remains while taking the guest house owner and the cleaner into custody for questioning.

Adding a bizarre twist to the saga, Felix’s younger brother, Dennis, was briefly detained after he was found in possession of the deceased’s mobile phone. He was later released after clarifying that a Pay Charge operator had handed him the device when Felix became unreachable a move that did little to quell public speculation.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is actively underway, though they remain tight-lipped about the cause of death. The police spokesperson, DSP Musa Mohammed, assured the public that preliminary inquiries are focused on identifying the mysterious woman and uncovering the events that led to Felix’s tragic end. As of now, no autopsy results or official findings have been released, leaving residents, colleagues, and family members grasping for answers in a case that grows murkier with each passing hour.
