His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta state governor and the present vice presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that, choosing Peter Nwaoboshi, Senator representing Delta North senatorial district, who is currently missing in action, over Prince Ned Nwoko, the present Delta North PDP senatorial candidate, in previous election, was a huge mistake from the party.
Recall that Nwoko and Nwaoboshi had contested against each other in the 2018 PDP primaries for Delta North senatorial district, with Nwaoboshi emerging as the winner after court battle between the duo.
Nwaoboshi who contested and won the Delta North senatorial seat, under the umbrella of PDP, later defected to All Progressives Congress (APC), after attracting a one-month suspension from PDP as a result of allegedly anti-party activities.
Governor Okowa, while speaking at Ukwuani local government area, on Tuesday, 10 January, 2023, during PDP campaign rally in the LGA, openly stated that, the choice of Nwaoboshi, was a regrettable mistake, whilst pouring encomiums on Prince Ned Nwoko, promising to get it right with him in this coming election.
He urged the people to vote Nwoko, describing him as a candidate who can connect with the people at all levels, and a trustworthy candidate who will not betray the people.
