Unknown gunmen at the early hours of Sunday May 16, 2021 razed down a police station in Nsukwa an agricultural community in Aniocha South local government area of the state.
Besides the burning of the police station servicing the adjourning communities in the area, not less than three policemen were also felled by the hoodlums.
The development has sent palpable fear into the mi ds of the peaceful residents of the area. The burnt police station is said to be the only station servicing 11 communities in Nsukwa kingdom.
The incident happened at the early hours of Sunday.
According to LEAPTV, an online television, residents of the community abandoned their Sunday church services, businesses shutdown as owners and community people went into hiding.
Isaac Olamiwe, a resident said it was about 1am that the incident happened. He said: “Resident started hearing gunshots which led to gunning down three officers.
He said nobody opened store, churches were shutdown just as his store was under lock and key.
Another woman said gunshots were heard from 1am 3am. In the morning, we heard policemen were killed and police station burnt.
As it is now, there is fear in the community, nobody is moving at all. We have not seen such we were born in Nsukwa.
