Following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and the directive from governments for all Nigerians to use facemasks, there has been proliferation of facemasks across the country. The surgical facemasks which is the most recommended is no more available because of the much demand for it. And because of that, dress makers or tailors have delved into making facemasks for people to use. And based on that, there have different forms and patterns of facemasks.
Some have started hawking the facemasks on the roadside as a new brand of business. But there are still fears that the coronavirus can still be spread through the facemasks. Somebody can test a facemask and drop it, thereby infecting it before someone else comes along to buy it. So, in order to avoid such challenge, the following are recommended by health workers.
When you purchase a clothe facemask, make sure you wash it before using it
Wash your hands with soap under running water before wearing the mask. If water is not available, use hand sanitizer
Cover your nose and mouth completely. Ensure that there are no gaps
Avoid touching or adjusting the mask while it’s on your face
Wash or sanitise your hands before removing the mask
As soon as you remove your masks, wash it immediately with soap or detergent. Ensure it dries completely under sunlight
