The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has tendered unreserved apology to Zamfara state for erroneously announcing unverified figures of COVID-19 for May 18, 2020.
While releasing figures for May 20, 2020, the agency said it erroneously announced eight new cases for Zamfara state. With the correction made, the body said as at May 20, 2020 Zamfara has recorded a total of 76 confirmed cases as against 84 it erroneously announced on Tuesday May 19.
Having made the correction, the NCDC said: “We apologise to Zamfara state for this error and reiterate our commitment to accurate and transparent reporting of data.”
Thereafter, it released the figures for May 20, 2020 being 284 as Lagos leads with 199 confirmed cases. Rivers state followed with 26, Oyo 19, FCT 8 and others followed.
It says 1840 have been discharged and 200 persons have so far died of the coronavirus disease,
