Senator Ede Dafinone has congratulated former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas following their victories in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries held across Delta State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Dafinone described their emergence as the APC senatorial candidates for Delta North and Delta South Senatorial Districts respectively as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in them by party delegates, leaders, and stakeholders.
The lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial District praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primaries, noting that the exercise demonstrated the unity, strength, and growing democratic culture within the APC in Delta State.
According to him, the emergence of experienced leaders such as Okowa and Joel-Onowakpo further strengthens the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dafinone also called on party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders across the three senatorial districts to remain united and committed to the collective vision of progress, development, and quality representation for the people of Delta State.
He expressed optimism that the APC would continue to build on its growing influence in the state through unity and cooperation among its members.
The APC primaries in Delta State were conducted amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with party leaders emphasizing internal cohesion and grassroots mobilization.
