Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been named Governor of the Year 2025 by both New Telegraph Newspapers and Leadership Newspapers, earning widespread commendation from political leaders and stakeholders across the state.

Reacting to the double recognition, Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, congratulated the governor, describing the awards as a clear validation of his leadership style and policy direction under the M.O.R.E. agenda.

In a congratulatory statement issued on behalf of the people of Delta Central, Senator Dafinone praised Governor Oborevwori’s governance approach as visionary and impact-driven, noting that it has translated into measurable improvements in infrastructure and social development across the state.

According to the senator, the honours reflect the administration’s focus on people-centered governance and inclusive policies that directly affect communities at the grassroots.

He said the government’s programmes have ensured that democratic dividends are experienced not only at the state level but also within local communities and households.

Dafinone highlighted ongoing infrastructural projects as a major hallmark of the governor’s tenure, pointing to expanded road networks, bridge construction, and urban renewal efforts across Delta State.

He described the scale of development as transformative, adding that many parts of the state have effectively become active construction zones.

He further stated that the governor’s “Advancing Delta” vision is laying a durable foundation for long-term economic growth and prosperity, positioning the state for future opportunities.

The senator reaffirmed continued legislative and political support for the governor, noting that the awards serve both as recognition of past performance and encouragement to sustain the pace of development.

Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. agenda, focused on meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security, has been central to his administration’s policy framework since taking office.

The latest awards add to a growing list of recognitions received by the state government for governance and development initiatives.
