Delta 2023: Fresh smear campaign plot against Gbagi leaks after botched arrest warrant

A foremost governorship aspirant in Delta state, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, has revealed that a female lawyers group that is organising protest on Wednesday was sponsored by his political enemies who have seen his towering popularity as the aspirant to beat in the guber contest.

In a statement made available to Emerald News by his media assistant, Kenneth Orusi, Gbagi noted that the female lawyers group under the aegis of Federation of International Women Lawyers (FIDA), is allowing itself to be used by his political detractors to destabilise the state.

THE PRESS STATEMENT RELEASED BY HIS MEDIA ASSISTANT

A foremost governorship aspirant in Delta state, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, has received intelligence reports that some women lawyers under the auspices of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Delta State have been recruited to drag his towering image to the mud.

The group has plotted  to hold a protest today , April 14th 2021, in Asaba and Warri,  to mislead the general public, especially Deltans, following the failure of a desperate official in the coridors of power in Delta State Government and his cronies, who used his authority to issue a fake warrant of arrest against  Barr. Gbagi, months back.

FIDA, hiding under the guise of demanding for justice in vacuum is clearly being sponsored by enemies of Barr. Gbagi’s governorship ambition,  who are unhappy with the popularity and unprecedented acceptability he is gaining on daily basis.

FIDA, Delta State Chapter under the watch of StellaMaris Majulu, is advised not to allow the reputable organization to be dragged into the murky politics of the state.

Undoubtedly,  people, especially interested parties would engage in political gimmicks to score cheap popularity, but it is surprising that FIDA could offer it’s platform for such a  smear campaign.

Olorogun Gbagi,  therefore,  calls  on the Government of Delta State to rein in these agents of backwardness in order  to forestall any form of face-off that might lead to breakdown of law and order.

He also appeals to his teeming supporters and the generality of Deltans to disregard any form of lies, as there are the handiwork of his political adversaries.

Signed:

Ken Orusi

Media Assistant to Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi,

FNIM

In a statement of invitation for the protest signed by the FIDA public relations officer, Vivian Onwukwufor, and obtained by Emerald News, the protest is expected to commence at 8.00am on Wednesday.

A copy of the invitation to FIDA members obtained by Emerald News is reproduced hereunder

“With the permission of FIDA (Nig), FIDA Delta is embarking on a road walk tomorrow to register our displeasure at the inhuman treatment meted out by Gbagi to some ladies whom he stripped naked, body shamed and their pictures posted on social media.

 *Time: 8am prompt*

*Taking off point: Interbua Roundabout, Asaba.*

*Dress code: FIDA T-shirt on jeans.*

#No to all forms of Gender and Sexual based violence.

#No to all forms of inhumane treatment.

#No to  all forms of abuse

But when contacted on the allegation of sponsorship, FIDA chairman, Stella Mejulu denied the allegation, saying she was acting in line with the principle of FIDA.

She told the medium that nobody sponsored her road walk. She also said it is not a protest but a road walk.
