Ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial race in Delta state, the leading aspirant, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, has received the support of thousands of youths of Sapele, the administrative headquarter of Sapele local government area of the state.
The youths stormed the residence of the chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Barr. Kingsley Esiso, to drum their support for the former minister of education, Olorogun Gbagi urged Deltans to give the criminologist the chance to industrialize the state.
The youths who stormed the venue, where Olorogun Gbagi had gone to consult the PDP chairman on his governorship ambition come 2023, said they were motivated to the venue because the time has come to get it right.
“We want a capable governor who will industrialize the state and continue to carry out the good work the governor is doing and we are calling on the governor to throw his weight behind a capable man like Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi” Uroyi Agbabi, one of the youths said.
Meanwhile, the entrepreneur said he is desirous to partner with the youths in the state, saying he has a data base of what it takes to win election in Delta state.
He posited that one of the reasons why he has decided to contest as the governor of the state come 2023, was because Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa was a sincere man who has always kept to his words.
He said: “For the first time since 1999, we have a governor whose words is like a word from God, I have had occasions to meet with all the governor in Delta state since 1999, I say it without mincing words that Okowa is honest that is the reason why you see I am prepared, I trust that at the appropriate time the governor will be straight forward in his dealings because the governor meant well for the people of the state”.
He noted that though the governorship would come to Delta Central in 2023, it is the district’s responsibility to partner with the remaining two senatorial districts, pleading with PDP leaders present to work with Barr. Esiso and the Delta State Governor to build a stronger party.
While responding, the chairman of the party, Barr. Esiso, said though Gbagi has the right to aspire to that exalted office, “I can tell you that come 2023 there will be no imposition, the candidate of the PDP and other positions will be selected through a very free and a very fair process in what you know as primaries”
