A political pressure group, Ewu Axis Political Union, has called on the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to come to their rescue on the recent killing of four members of Okuama community in Ughelli south local government area of the state.

An open letter dated 31st January 2024, addressed to the state governor through the office of the Chief of Staff, asked the governor to act fast as Okoloba community in Bomadi local government area, has concluded plans for a more deadly mission.

This is coming after a visitor was beaten to a pulp few days ago and another round where Okuama women coming from Okwagbe market were mercilessly beaten and subsequent threat to cause mayhem in the community.

Ewu Axis Political Union made their position known in the letter signed by Chief Vincent Oduaran, Minister Omoteregha and Olorogun David Adasen, Chairman, Secretary and national leader respectively.

They asked the governor to come to their aid, as they now sleep with their eyes open as they do not know when Okoloba community would strike again.

They gave the names of those murdered as Igho Meshach, Okiemute David, Power Awusa and the driver of the speedboat whose identity is yet unknown while still holding onto their corps.

Meanwhile, a committee chaired by Mr Agagu and a member, Mrs Mercy Ogbobo, has sent relief materials to those particularly women and children displaced from Okwama community by the incessant attacks by Okoloba community.

The relief materials were received by the Vice Chairman of Okuama community, Mr. David Akata.

They called on the governor and security agencies to act quickly to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

They noted that if not for the plea and timely intervention of community leaders and elders, the situation would have gone out of hands as Okuama youths are agitated over the killing of their kinsmen, a situation that may affect the economy of the State if handled with kit gloves.

Your Excellency,
Executive Governor of Delta State.

Sir,

AN OPEN LETTER TO Rt HON ELDER SHERIFF FRANCIS OBOREVWORI ON THE GRUESOME MURDER OF FOUR OKUAMA COMMUNITY SONS AFTER SEVERE BEATING OF OKUAMA WOMEN RETURNING FROM OKWAGBE MARKET, CARRIED OUT BY OKOLOBA COMMUNITY ON THE 27TH JANUARY, 2024.

Your Excellency sir, the Ewu Axis Political Union wish to draw your attention to the recent happenings in Okuama Community, Ewu Urhobo Clan, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The people of Okoloba community in Bomadi Local Government Area ambushed the women of Okuama community, pulled them from the various engine boats plying the river at Okoloba community.

They gave them severe beating of their lives and released them when they were already at the point of coma and thereafter blocked another speedboat with their Yamaha 200 horse power and beat them mercilessly at okoloba until two of them fled through the river and the rest four namely (1) Igho Meshach (2) Okiemute David (3) Power Awusa and the driver of the speedboat whose identity we have not known were gruesomely murdered and their corpse held to themselves at Okoloba.

We hereby appeal to Your Excellency to take serious measures to stop the barbaric action of the Okoloba people by sending security agents to the area to forestall further killing of Okuama people as the Okoloba people are still brandishing their weapons and making serious arrangement for further attack on the Okuama people.

We also suggest that government set up a committee of enquiry to look into the remote cause and also find solution to further occurrences of such crisis.

We passionately appeal that the government should send relief materials and food item to assist the women, children and people who are displaced due to the problem in the area.

Your Excellency, we will be grateful if our letter is given the kind and urgent attention it deserves as we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks.

SIGNED:

CHIEF VINCENT ODUARAN
Chairman

MINISTER OMOTEREGHA
Secretary

OLOROGUN DAVID ADASEN
National Leader
