Delta North APC makes decision over proposed appreciation tour of former DSP Senator Ovie Omo-Agege

The Delta North APC Advocates D.N.A.A. as part of its aims, objectives and responsibilities, wishes to communicate the disposition and reaction of the members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Delta North Senatorial District towards the proposed interaction of former Deputy Senate President and 2023 governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, with leaders and stakeholders of the district.

While we acknowledge the right of access and interaction of and with any member of the party, events that have defined the chapter of the party in Delta State have necessitated this official position, which has the support and confidence of leaders and majority stakeholders of the party, including statutory delegates and party executives at all levels.

The Delta North chapter of the party has a constitutionally and conventionally recognized structure of leadership, and it is expected that for obvious reasons Senator Ovie Omo-Agege would liaise with the Senatorial leadership of the party, led by Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka the Chairman, before going public with his announcement.

From our findings, the Senatorial leadership is not aware of the proposed meeting, having not been officially informed, nor consulted by the intending visitor.

To this end, the Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress from across the 9 local government areas are put on notice about this flagrant disregard for the constituted authority of Anioma APC and are enjoined to boycott the meeting.

Similarly, the events surrounding the outcome of the 2023 gubernatorial elections in the state are still fresh in the memories of Delta North APC members who have continued to express disappointment over Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s constant disrespect and incitement against its leaders.

At this juncture, D.N.A.A. goes down memory lane to remind Delta North APC members of the poor disposition, maltreatment, and hateful utterances credited to supporters of Senator Omo-Agege across social media platforms against Delta North APC and its leaders, over the former’s loss at the polls.

Therefore the pretext of visiting to appreciate Delta North APC is suspicious, especially being those you hold responsible for your loss.
Without a detailed apology, the appreciation visit is not only laughable, but it makes absolutely no sense.

Delta North APC has always regarded party leaders from Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial with respect and cordiality that encourages mutually beneficial partnership, however, the leadership of the Senatorial District has now chosen to act in line with the concept of “RESPECT IS RECIPROCAL”, and this move has the support of the Delta North APC faithful.

Furthermore, Delta North APC is particular about the circumstances surrounding the proposed interaction by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, noting that since the conclusion of all 2023 election matters, he has not been on the same page with the H.E Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje-led national working committee of the party as well as the presidency.

D.N.A.A. recalls that a reconciliation committee led by the 2015 governorship candidate of the party Olorogun Otega Emerhor, was set up under the instruction of the APC National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and it made concerted efforts to reconcile interests in the party.

The committee came up with a report that featured recommendations including the establishment of a college of leaders at all levels of the party.
It had the full support of major stakeholders of the party and was presented to the national chairman, who acknowledged the efforts and sincerity of all who supported the reconciliation process.

It will be important to also note that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege singularly fashioned an unconventional group within the committee, intending to derail it, but being unsuccessful, he instigated the conception of a minority report, against the view of all major leaders of the party in the state and the national leadership of the party.

Delta North APC doesn’t wish to antagonize the national leadership of the party by entertaining elements who have been identified to be working at variance with the party structure, directive and body language, hence D.N.A.A. denounces and rejects the proposed visit to the Senatorial District.

In conclusion, party leaders and officials in Delta North Senatorial District are encouraged to stay away from the meeting called by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, based on the reasons enumerated above, and are encouraged to liaise with the Senatorial leadership and their respective leaders across the Federal Constituencies and local government areas for clarity and proper awareness.

The interest of Delta North APC will no longer be made secondary to the interests of certain leaders who have been observed to nurture contempt and disregard for the Senatorial District, and elements with Anioma APC found to be working with these individuals will be treated as decisively dealt with, relegated and treated as strangers by the Delta North Senatorial Leadership of the APC.
