In a recent media address, Oke Umurhohwo, a key chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, has assured party faithful that the PDP remains strong, united, and focused on the future, despite recent high-profile defections, including those of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Representing fellow PDP leaders, Umurhohwo stressed that the party retains its influence and resolve to remain a dominant political force in Delta State. He called on supporters to remain loyal and trust in the party’s ability to weather the current political changes.
“We are confident the PDP will continue to play a leading role in Delta and beyond,” Umurhohwo said. “This is not the first challenge we’ve faced, and it won’t be the last. But we will emerge stronger, with our loyal supporters by our side.”
He reaffirmed that the PDP’s vision for the state remains intact and efforts are underway to rebuild and reposition the party for future success.
“Our future is secured,” he declared. “We are revitalizing our structures and reconnecting with the grassroots. The PDP has a legacy of development, and that will not change.”
Looking ahead, Umurhohwo noted that a leadership transition is in motion, aimed at injecting new energy into the party. He said the incoming leadership would bring fresh ideas and renewed momentum to the PDP’s operations in the state.
“The new team will inspire confidence and progress,” he said. “Together, we are committed to guiding the PDP back to electoral victory and effective governance.”
Addressing the defections, Umurhohwo described them as a natural occurrence in politics and assured members that the party’s foundation remains solid.
“We acknowledge the concerns of our supporters, but these shifts won’t shake our resolve,” he said. “The PDP is resilient, and our commitment to Delta State remains unshaken.”
He urged unity among party members and reaffirmed the PDP’s dedication to the development and welfare of the state.
“Our mission is clear,” Umurhohwo concluded. “The PDP stands for the people of Delta State, and we will continue to work tirelessly for their progress, security, and prosperity.”
As Delta’s political dynamics continue to shift, the PDP reiterates its commitment to leading the state toward a stronger and brighter future.
