A 60-year-old man identified as Mr Godfrey Akpudje has been arrested over the possession of two human skulls on June 24, 2021.
According to a statement by the Delta state police public relations officer, Edafe Bright, a 35-year-old man by the name Ejiro Okoro on June 24 had reported that the corpse of his sister (name withheld) who died at 65 and was buried sometime in 2019 at Ekpan Ovu has been exhumed by unknown person.
Acting on this report, the DPO Isiokolo Division sent police detectives to investigate the issue.
It was during the course of investigation the police gathered that it was Mr Godfrey Akpudje a 60-year-old native doctor that exhumed the corpse and removed the skull.
The native doctor was arrested immediately and two human skulls were recovered from him. He said he got one of the skulls from Osun state from a native doctor who is now late.
According to the police, investigation is still ongoing.
