Members of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Delta state branch have put on hold the proposed protest against the continuous release of check off dues to the outgone executive and perceived victimisation of members.
The suspension of the protest is based on the peace meeting called by the Head of Service of Delta State, Mr. Reginald Bayoko.
In a statement signed by Promise Obi, secretary of the caretaker committee, and made available to Emerald News, he said: “It is no longer news that the crisis rocking the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria in Delta State is far from being over. This is based on the continuous release of check off dues to a government that her tenure is long overdue and expired.
“It is also perceived that the outgone Exco has concluded plans to allegedly victimise any worker that is seen or heard supporting the caretaker committee that was put in place by the delegates of the 44 units of the association in Delta state.
“This came to our surprise when the accountant and the chairman’s secretary were allegedly denied their salaries by the Bolum-led Exco. This is totally unacceptable.
“Information reaching us is that the Head of Service has fixed a meeting of all interested parties for February 15, 2022 by 3pm in his office.
“We gathered that the office of the Attorney General of the state has advised the Head of Service on a possible solution to the lingering crisis in the association.
“The outcome of the meeting on Tuesday will determine whether the proposed protest will go on or not. We are sure that the workers friendly governor in the person of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa will call the Head of Service to order.
“God Bless Delta State, GOD Bless Association of Senior Civil servants of Nigeria Delta State Branch. Solidarity Forever!!!”
