Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of Mrs. Eruvwu Juliet Eghene-Ezefili, JP, as the Functioning Secretary of the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Asaba.

The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated May 6, 2026, from the Office of the Head of Service, Government House, Asaba, signed by the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) M. I. Oseji. According to the letter referenced HOS.5/46/TY/179, the appointment took effect from April 30, 2026.

“I am pleased to convey the approval of His Excellency, the Governor, Rt. Honourable Elder Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori for your appointment as the Functioning Secretary to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) with effect from 30th April, 2026,” the letter stated.

The appointment marks a historic milestone in the administration of the board, as Mrs. Eghene-Ezefili becomes the first female to be appointed Secretary of Delta SUBEB and also the first staff member of the board to rise through the ranks to occupy the position of Functioning Secretary.

A seasoned education administrator and public servant, Mrs. Eghene-Ezefili brings over three decades of experience in educational administration, institutional management, and public sector governance to her new role.

She began her professional career as an Educational Administrator and Science Teacher at Paragon Group of Schools, Benin City, between 1994 and 1995, before serving as Administrative Officer in charge of Exams and Records at the College of Education, Ekiadolor, Benin City, from 1995 to 1996. She later worked at St. Mary’s Medical Centre, Benin City, from 1996 to 2000.
