A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Delta state has said that either the party retains the zoning formula which has produced three successive governors in the persons of Chief James Onanefe Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa from the three senatorial districts or Delta central senatorial district moves to the opposition APC.
The PDP chieftain who did not want his name in print reacted following the agitation from PDP members in Delta South who are campaigning vigorously for the governorship slot in the 2023 general elections. He said the agitations of the Ijaw people is an attempt to destroy the zoning arrangement which has been maintained over the years. He is arguing that the zoning formula should remain, hence Delta central should produce the governor.
Read his post:
“We sidon dey wait….!
2023 won’t be business as usual.
Some of us no get time to waste on drama. It’s either PDP respect the zoning arrangements that we’ve sacrificed to sustain or we should forget retaining power in 2023.
It’s that simple…
“We dey wait for those wen go betray the unwritten agreement in Delta Central to support other Senatorial candidate because of their pockets and selfish interest. Enough said already.”
From his view, the party may as well forget retaining power if the zoning arrangement is not respected. He is tactically saying APC may take over the state.
