Governorship candidate on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, has said that he would run a participatory, accountable and transparent government rooted in responsive, effective and efficient distribution of resources.
The former minister of state for education, pointed out that his plan is to run an equitable and inclusive administration by following the rule of law with well documented strategic vision for Deltans.
Gbagi made the disclosure on Saturday 6th August 2022, at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Isaiah Isiki Edekere 1, the Odion-Ologbo of Olomoro Kingdom, Isoko south local government area of the state.
He charged indigenes and residents of Olomoro not to allow one vote go to any other parties, as they would not recognize the community six months into his government if they do the needful by voting for him and the Social Democratic Party come 2023.
He reminded the royal father that SDP, a social movement that is known for its liberation activities, was the platform with which MKO Abiola and Olorogun Felix Ibru, won the most freest and fairest election as president and governor respectively.
Hear him: “I have no blemish. I know what it take to turn Delta state around. I am a businessman. I have contributed to the growth of the state and I know what it takes to run a good government.
“Your Royal Majesty, I don’t need to tell you, unless you do what is right, hunger, strife, will kill our people. Unless you take hold of your community and your followers, they will deceive you. We are SDP, we cannot lie, we are a social movement to liberate the state. I have what it take in my capacity to change the narrative”.
While informing the royal father that he is in the race to win the forthcoming gubernatorial election, he said: “I am coming to ask your prayers, I want to run as governor, unless you give your government to somebody who you can hold responsible, you will make mistakes. I will change Olomoro for good. I don’t want to see one vote lost in Olomoro, when you finish by playing your part, give us six months, you will not know your kingdom again”.
Gbagi challenged other governorship candidates in the race to a debate to tell Deltans what they want to bring to the table, “It is because they are afraid of my personality, that is why they are planning evils against me. If they want to do election, let them come out”, he declared.
Also speaking, the Deputy governorship candidate of the party, Chief Mrs. Oshilim Ishioma Rosemary, challenged the women to rise up to the task as they have been given the opportunity to show the stuff they are made of.
“Everybody must get their PVC, that is the only way we can support our principal. He will give us free education, go to o the market, talk to the women”, she added.
Earlier, the state party chairman, Ambassador Oke Idawene, tasked the people on the need to vote transformation, accountability, saying party politics should be jettisoned.
“Charity begins at home, the time of party politics is over, we are now talking about individuals. He is a politician, he is a businessman and he will not steal your money”, just as he seized the opportunity to demand for a federal university in Olomoro when Gbagi assumes office.
“When you become governor we need a federal university in Olomoro”, he told Gbagi.
In his prayers, the traditional ruler, HRM Isaiah Isiki Edekere 1, prayed God to protect him and his entourage as they woo Deltans for their votes and support, “Your heart desire, may God give it to you, as you journey on the road with your team, there shall not blood shed”.
