The leadership of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) on Thursday gathered at CAC chapel Warri, with the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi to hold an interactive session.
Pastor Ewoma Itoje, DCC superintendent, CAC and Pastor Nathan Onokpanu, CPFN Chairman, Delta State were among those present.
Gbagi recounted history as a product of CAC member, and how his father Robinson Gbagi worked with Joseph Ayo Babalola to bring Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) to Sapele and environs.
With a long history in the church, Gbagi lamented the fact that the church doesn’t seem to be as progressive as it is supposed to due to the high rate of poverty among members in the state.
In the interactive session with the clergy men and members present he lamented ” I want Delta state to be the state that God has made it to be”.
Gbagi added: “children of God, what are we doing, we are just folding our hands and praying and things are going bad and from bad to worse yet we are still praying”.
We have become a subject of ridicule, men of God need to sensitize their followers on how to make the right decision in this time.
The church is part and parcel of the society and CAC is so powerful”.
The governorship candidate recounted the promises that he has made in the course of his campaign.
One of his campaign promises is establishing international standard companies in every local government, while utilizing natural resources that are readily available in the local government.
Another is documenting every youth in a database and paying them 30 thousand Naira each until he can get them gainfully employed.
Third is bringing back major companies like Shell that have left Delta state because of insecurity.
Keeping herdsmen out of the streets and farms of the state among others are some among the promises he made to Deltans.
He stated that if he should win the election, on the day he is sworn in, he would establish the ministry of religious affairs.
When it was time for questions from the audience, an attendee asked, how he intends to resolve the issues facing students bursary in the state.
Gbagi assured Deltans that he will ensure that the education sector will not suffer in his administration.
Another attendee brought up the issue of retirement benefits for pensioners that have been withheld, to which Gbagi also promised that they will surely be taken care of because as he has said before he knows where the money is.
The meeting ended on a high note as the organizers pleaded for Gbagi to revisit the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) when they gather in their numbers to hear the good news that Olorogun Barr Kenneth Gbagi has brought for the people.
