Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP in Delta state, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, has said that he is the only proper Urhobo man contesting the Delta state governorship election which is coming up March 11, 2023.
Gbagi spoke after voting at his unit in Oginibo, his country home in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state.
Gbagi, who voted in the same polling unit with Deacon Ken Pela, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, expressed optimism that his party would win his unit for his presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo.
The SDP guber candidate told reporters after voting that the love his community people have for him is not negotiable. He said he is confident that at the declaration of results, the genuineness of his people’s love for him will be manifested.
The SDP guber candidate who condemned vote buying to win elections, said no one would dare involve in the act in Oginibo as such would be an uphill task for the perpetrators to achieve their goal.
Responding to questions on the massive turnout recorded in the entire units, Gbagi said the turnout was a result of him participating in the elections as a son of the soil. He said Delta is SDP state just as his community is SDP home.
Gbagi noted that the turnout has never been like this in previous elections but for the fact that he is participating as a governorship candidate, the community people turned out massively to vote for his party.
Giving details on why the Oginibo people love him dearly, Gbagi noted: “It is because I live with them. I’m the only proper Urhobo man contesting the election. I’m the only Oginibo man contesting the election and this is my strength area. We sleep together. We pray and walk together. That’s why they love me.”
Gbagi, who was beaming with smiles while casting his vote, told journalists after voting that he is optimistic of a fantastic result when the result is declared later in the day
