The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is fast taking over Delta state as the party to reckon with in the state.

This came as Muslims across the 25 local government areas of Delta state endorsed the former minister of state for education, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, for governor as SDP prepares to become the ruling party in Delta come 2023.

Their decision was based on the ability, sagacity and entrepreneurial prowess of the largest private investor to rescue the state from what they described as a “state breathing through oxygen”.

In a communique’ issued after its extraordinary general meeting held on Sunday 5th June 2022, at the Delta Steel Company (DSC), Ovwian Aladja Mosque, Udu local government area of the state, the group said among the candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Sheriff Oborevwori and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the SDP governorship candidate, Olorogun Gbagi, stands shoulder tall to provide good governance to Deltans.

The communique’ signed and issued on behalf of the Muslim Stakeholders by Alhaji Wasiu Udi, and made available to journalists, hinted that after deliberating exhaustively, the Muslim stakeholders threw their weight behind the gubernatorial ambition of Gbagi, a renowned criminologist cum well-known philanthropist in the 2023 general elections.

“At an extra ordinary general meeting of Muslim stakeholders in the state held on Sunday the 5th day of June 2022 at the Delta Steel Company Mosque Owvian Aladja, with representatives drawn from the twenty five local government council areas of the state, the agenda was the political development in Delta state.

“Viewing for the governorship seat in the state with regard to contesting, vis-a-vis Chief Kenneth Gbagi, Sen Ovie Omo-Agege and Sheriff Oborevwori”.

According to the communique’, having exhaustively deliberated on all these and many other issues, the entire Muslim stakeholders unanimously resolved to support and endorse the candidature of Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi for the governorship on the following reasons:

“That Chief Gbagi with his investment stride will develop and transform Delta state.
