The SDP Isoko South rally at the Oleh Civic center was a momentous occasion as several groups stormed out in their numbers to welcome all the state candidates led by governorship candidate of the party, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi.
The campaign rally held on the 26th of January 2023 ahead of the forthcoming governorship elections in the state.
The campaign ground was agog with music, several dance troops and men, women and youths from wards in the LGA.
” I am contesting for governor of Delta state, Isoko used to be identified as the rice haven of Nigeria, but today that farm is dead, Nobody is tilling the rice. With me as governor, I will turn Isoko to a rice haven to feed the whole of Nigeria”.
“I will put our mothers into cooperatives, then tailors will make the rice bags, and we will supply the rice to the whole country. So this place will be self sufficient. With rice alone, we will make N100billion every year”.
“I will give our children free education to university level. All your children that of working age, when I take over, I will start paying them 30 thousand naira each.
When I give them that money, I will give them jobs then stop the 30 thousand.
“As for our retirees, I will pay pension and gratuity from the day you retire”. I beg all of you, let us put hands together and liberate Delta state.
Gbagi admonished the people on their choice of presidential candidates urging them to desist from the practice of selling votes.
He cautioned against voting in a Muslim president citing Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo and Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as the only candidates that deserve consideration in the race.
The Christian youth in politics co-ordinator Isoko South, Reverend Sylvester voiced the loyalty of the Christian youths in Isoko South.
He said “We will go from ward to ward, from community to community, church to church, to tell all the youths who are of voting age to tell them that the man who we believe can captain the ship of Delta state from where it is now to where we want it to be is Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi”.
