Within the outgone week, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, foremost guber aspirant and biggest investor in Delta state, visited leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope West and Sapele local government areas of Delta state. As usual, his presence elicited wide ovation as youths sang his praises, drawing attention to his great deeds and developmental projects across the state.
It was a carnival of sort as the singing and dancing drowned every noise around the PDP secretariats where he was received by executive members of the party. His reception was kingly as he was given a rouzy welcome by party faithful.
In Oghara, headquarters of Ethiope West, Gbagi was received at the party secretariat but at Sapele, he was received at the residence of the party chairman, Perkins Umukoro. In both receptions, it was a beautiful sight to behold as the people thronged into the venues to hear the great plans Gbagi, the biggest industrialist in Delta, has for the people. It was also to hear his plans to create jobs for Delta youths, uplift condition of living and make Delta the investment destination for foreigners.
As characteristics of him, Gbagi spoke convincingly of his plans and projects for a greater Delta, the Delta of our dream. Gbagi who has remained consistent in his plans for the state never minced words in analysing his beautiful desire for a Dubai-like Delta state.
True to his words, he explained what he has in mind for the development of the state. He told them that years back, white men were discharging fish in Oghara, saying Oghara the country home of former Governor James Ibori, who was reputed to have left a footprint behind his administration in 2007, has what it takes to feed Delta people. He did not fail to tell them that he knew that Delta people have very high expectation from him. This is true because he has made great promises and certainly he has the wherewithal both financially and intellectually to bring them to fruition. Yes, Gbagi has the mind, the willingness, the yearning to transform Delta to the admiration of all residents.
He told the PDP leaders that he would not want to give excuses when he eventually emerges as state governor. He also said he has what it takes to turn Delta around and meet the expectations of all Deltans.
He told the PDP faithful that there is wealth in the state and he is ready to turn the wealth around for the good of the people. This is true as he is not known to have failed in whatever he set his mind to do. He told them to ask other aspirants to show their investments in the state.
He said: “Ask them what have they done for the state? Ask them what business have they established in the state? They will come to deceive you. I don’t need government vehicle tbroughout the period I will be in government house if I win the governorship. Has anybody told you Gbagi is a thief? If there’s anyone who has worked for me and I didn’t pay him or her, they should come out and I will give them N10m. I don’t steal, I don’t dupe people.”
Gbagi, who has much investment in Effurun, Uvwie local government area of Delta state, noted that he cannot be governor and neglect Oghara, the country home of James Ibori, the former governor of the state. “I will add to what Ibori did in Oghara. I’m a business expert, I know what to do. Our children are running away, we must give them hope to return,” Gbagi said.
Chairman of PDP in Ethiope West, Solomon Obareki, could not hold himself after hearing all the great programmes put together by Gbagi to change the fortune of Delta state.
He told Gbagi pointedly “You are our incoming governor, you should be calling us when going to other places, we will follow you. We are proud of you. You are our own, your work is our work.”
In Sapele, the PDP local government chairman, Perkins Umukoro, said Gbagi is a product of Sapele, hence the visit to Sapele was home coming. He gave him the assurance of complete victory in the primaries.
For him, Gbagi is the right man for the job of governing Delta state. He told him his local government would give him 100percent vote in the primaries. “We have 73 executive members and delegates, it will be 73/73 for Gbagi. If he enters government house, we all will benefit from his administration. Dont worry about Sapele, go to other places, we are for you,” the chairman noted.
