Delta governorship aspirant, Senator James Manager, has explained why he will pay greater attention to the transformation of rural communities if given the mandate to govern Delta state in 2023.
“Our villages and rural areas deserved to be developed as centres of attraction in order to boost the lives and wellbeing of residents in those areas and help reverse rural-urban migration.
“Everyone of us has a village where he comes from. Though most of us now work and live in the cities, my plan is to develop rural areas to such a level that we would all be proud of”, Manager stated.
He spoke during his consultation visits to six local government chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ukwuani, Ika South, Ika North-East, Oshimili North, Aniocha North, and Antiocha South.
He also listed urban transformation, healthcare delivery, agriculture, education, peace and security as components of his proposed programmes if he is eventually elected as governor.
Manager promised to be fair and equitable in attending to the needs of every segment of Delta state, saying he will be governor for every Deltan irrespective of their ethnic backgrounds.
In their separate responses, the local government party chairmen expressed appreciation to Manager for the visit, but urged him to work harder and reach out to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the leader of the party in the state.
Among people that accompanied Sen. Manager include Hon. Preyor, Deputy Majority Leader, Delta State House of Assembly; Bomadi Local Government Chairman, Mr. William Angadi; Barr. Neworld Safugha, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Renewable Energy; Chief J.T. Government, Chairman, Governing Council, Delta State College of Marine Technology, Burutu; the campaign committee secretary, Mr. Funebi Numoupeide among others.
