Prince Ned Nwoko, the Delta North senator-elect, has called on the people of his constituency to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Rt.Hon.Sheriff Oborevwori, in the forthcoming governorship election.
Nwoko made the call on Sunday, 5 March, while addressing forum of both PDP and Labour Party members at Ogwashi-uku.
The senator-elect pleaded with the people not to handover Delta state to Tinubu’s loyalists by voting an All Progressives Congress (APC) governor.
According to Nwoko, not voting APC is not enough. It is crucial that the people vote PDP, because, voting another party will lead to division of vote which would work against PDP, thereby, giving APC an edge to win.
He explained that, anybody who did not vote for PDP, has inadvertently voted for APC.
As maintained by Nwoko, letting in an APC governor in Delta state, simply means handling Delta state over to Bola Tinubu, the Nigeria president-elect, whose victory is with a big question mark.
In Nwoko’s words, “If you don’t want an APC Governor in Delta state who will be loyal to Tinubu, then you have to join forces with other PDP faithfuls and support Sheriff to win the governorship election.
“I understand that majority of you here are Labour Party members. I admire your support for Peter Obi. However, presidential election has come and gone. Now, this is time to save your state. Time to fight for your state and ensure it doesn’t end up in the hands of Tinubu’s loyalists.
“The only way to fight Tinubu is through the courts. As a legal consultant, I am willing to do so and ensure that the true winner gets justice. To have an edge in this fight, we need more of PDP Governors.
“As a senator, I cannot function effectively with an APC president and governor. This is more than being in the minority; It means I am an orphan in government.
“There’s already a big problem in Delta state. Delta South and Delta Central are already controlled by APC. Allowing an APC governor is like handing over Delta state to Tinubu.”
Later that day, Nwoko also hosted hundreds of canvassers in his country home, Mount Ned, Idumuje-Ugboko, where he restated the need for them to support and canvass for Sheriff.
