Anambra state governor, Professor Charles Soludo has said that all public and civil servants in the state must resume work on Mondays just as he directed that sit-at-home must end on Monday April 4, 2022.
Addressing market leaders and relevant authorities at Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka, Prof Charles Soludo said with effect from Monday April 4 2022; all markets, schools, banks and motor parks around the state will resume normal activities every Mondays.
He said security agencies shall be mobilized, armed forces and informal security organizations shall take charge to ensure lives and properties are protected.
According to Governor Soludo: “With the Monday sit at home exercise, the South East economy is gradually sinking. When you boycott activities in Anambra and normal activities are going on in other states, the person or persons you want to show your anger is not actually feeling what you are doing. You are only destroying your home.
“There are proper ways to express agitations than to engage in activities that will destroy our home. Many businesses and investors are relocating to Asaba and other places. This is killing our economy and we cannot afford to continue that way.”
But people of Anambra state and other Nigerians who are in solidarity with Soludo’s government advised the governor to tread softly on the issue of sit-at-home.
According to them, sit at home is for a cause and that Soludo should rather engage the cause of the sit-at-home than employing soldiers and police, a development which would lead to loss of lives in the state.
They advised him to focus on his administration and build Anambra state, engage government on how to release Nnamdi Kanu rather than starting a fight he cannot finish.
They also warned him not to turn Anambra to Imo state as there are regular bloodshed in Imo as security and unknown gunmen engage in bloodbath.
