Dr. Michael Nwoko, former senior special assistant to erstwhile Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on health monitoring has congratulated Senator Ned Nwoko on his tribunal victory on Thursday.

Senator Nwoko representing Delta North in the National Assembly was dragged to the tribunal by the Labour Party and All Progressive Congress candidates, Barrister Kennedy Kanma and former Senator Peter Nwaoboshi after the general elections.

The duo dragged him to the tribunal after his declaration as winner of the Delta North senatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The election was held on February 25, 2023 alongside the presidential election.

The Labour Party and All Progressive Congress candidates raised issues which could not be proved before the tribunal.

But delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Catherine Ogunsanya, after thorough examination of the petitions brought against Senator Nwoko, delivered judgment in his favour while dismissing all petitions as lacking in merit.

In his congratulatory message to the Delta North Senator, Dr. Michael Nwoko said the decision of the tribunal is an affirmation of the victory of Senator Nwoko at the 2023 general elections.

He said the victory showed that the mandate which Delta North people gave to the Senator was the voice of the people. He noted that the victory showed that Senator Ned Nwoko is an idea whose time has come and that no one could stop the movement.

He said: “The victory recorded by the Senator is the victory given to him by the people of Delta North. The people spoke on the 25 of February and that victory was affirmed on Thursday by the tribunal.

“They gave him the mandate to represent them in the red chamber and that he is systematically carrying it out. Within the few months he has been in the senate, he has put in a number of motions.

“I want to beat my chest that at the end of four years which is the first term, the people of Delta North will be bold to say the decision they took on February 25th to vote for Senator Nwoko was not in vain. Senator Nwoko believes in alleviating the pains of the downtrodden. No man can take that from him.

“Once again, I want to congratulate the distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko on his victory at the tribunal and we believe and are sure that as the senate resumes after the vacation, the Senator Prince Ned Nwoko will not disappoint the people of Delta North.”
