Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, senator representing Delta North senatorial district, has lauded the exceptional performance of the Nigeria national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, as they again emerge champions of Africa following their thrilling 84-74 win over Senegal in the final of the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament.
In his congratulatory message, Nwoko highlighted that the team’s victory goes beyond winning trophies. He lauded the team as trailblazers for aspiring athletes, both male and female, in Nigeria and beyond.

Extending appreciation to the Nigeria Super Falcons, who also recently qualified for the round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Senator Nwoko stated, “I am thrilled to see Nigerian female athletes continuously raise the bar and make our beloved nation shine on the global stage.
“The achievements of D’Tigress and Super Falcons have showcased the strength and determination of Nigerian female athletes. Hence, it is important for us as a nation to invest in sports development to foster and encourage young athletes.”
