Asaba, Delta State — November 14, 2025

Chief Emma Ejiofor, PhD, FIBDFM, has issued a glowing commendation to Rt. Hon. Victor Onyekachi Ochei following his election as President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), describing the development as a pivotal milestone that could redefine the trajectory of tennis in Nigeria.

In a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Gibson Dunkwu, Ejiofor celebrated Ochei’s victory in what he noted was a highly competitive and closely watched electoral exercise.

According to him, the outcome not only reflects Ochei’s widespread acceptance among stakeholders but also underscores the trust placed in his leadership acumen and capacity for strategic transformation.

Ejiofor lauded Ochei’s professional track record, describing him as a leader whose achievements in public service, administration, and humanitarian initiatives have consistently set him apart.

He emphasized that the new NTF president has demonstrated exceptional commitment to empowering individuals and communities, a quality that he believes will translate into impactful leadership within the federation.

“Rt. Hon. Ochei’s rise to this position is a powerful affirmation of a career built on consistency, vision, and a deep-rooted dedication to national development,” the statement noted.

Ejiofor expressed confidence that the attributes which earned Ochei the nickname Victor Ludorum—“Champion of the Games”—will become even more pronounced as he assumes this new responsibility.

Looking ahead, Ejiofor outlined a broad range of expectations for Ochei’s administration, anticipating a period of comprehensive renewal within Nigerian tennis.

He said stakeholders are looking forward to elevated performance standards driven by modern player development, improved coaching frameworks, and increased international exposure.

He also highlighted the importance of rebuilding Nigeria’s global presence in tennis, noting that strategic partnerships, high-profile events, and enhanced international engagement will be crucial to restoring the country’s competitiveness on the world stage.

Ejiofor further stressed the need for robust grassroots programs that identify and nurture young talents from an early age, describing grassroots development as the foundation of any sustainable sporting renaissance.

In addition, he underscored the necessity of modernizing tennis infrastructure nationwide, calling for investments in upgraded courts, training facilities, and accessible community programs that can support both amateur and professional growth.

Equally important, according to Ejiofor, is the establishment of transparent, accountable, and efficient governance structures within the NTF.

He argued that long-term progress will depend on administrative stability and openness, which he believes Ochei is well-positioned to deliver.

“As he embarks on this demanding national assignment, we are confident that Rt. Hon. Ochei will bring the same excellence, tenacity, and foresight that have distinguished his public life,” the statement said.

“His leadership offers a real opportunity to inspire a new generation of athletes and bring unity and pride to the nation through sporting achievement.”

Ejiofor reaffirmed his full support for Ochei, expressing optimism that his tenure will mark the beginning of a golden era for tennis in Nigeria.
