There is palpable fear at the moment in Delta Government House following the report that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and his wife, Edith have contracted the lethal coronavirus. As at yesterday, the state stands at 912 confirmed cases of the COVID-19.

A few days back, one of his daughters contracted the virus, a development which made the governor and his wife to go into self-isolation. He made the announcement telling Deltans that he was proceeding on self-isolation.

At the early hours of Wednesday, July 01, 2020, the governor announced that he had contracted the virus and his wife and they have been taken to isolation. He craved prayers from all the people of Delta state and Nigerians.

In the last two weeks, the secretary to the state government, Chiedu Ebie, and the state commissioner for information, Charles Aniagwu, contracted the virus and were taken to isolation.

The number now is four with the governor’s daughter making a total of five persons in the Delta Government House.

As it is now, there is fear and apprehension among members of the state executive council as some of the members may be afraid of having contracted the virus from the governor and possibly his wife.
