The first republic aviation minister, Mbazulike Amaechi, had died on Tuesday, 1 November, while president Buhari was away for his routine medical check-up in UK.
As reported by Daily Post, in a hybrid meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which Vice president Yemi Osibanjo presided over at the State House Council Chambers, Abuja, the council observed a minute’s silence in honour of late Amaechi.
Before the meeting commenced, the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha had notified the cabinet of Amaechi’s death.
In attendance were, Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, Boss Mustapha, Niyi Adebayo, Rauf Aregbesola, Sunday Dare, Adeleke Mamora, Mahmood Abubakar, Babatunde Fashola, Ekumankama Joseph Nkama and Mariam Katagum.
