Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has terminated the employment of 43 personnel in a sweeping disciplinary action aimed at restoring professionalism and public trust within the organization.
According to an official press release signed by Assistant Corps Marshal and Public Education Officer Olusegun Ogungbemide, the dismissals were the result of serious breaches of conduct.
The largest group, 31 officers, were dismissed for desertion, while five were removed for “scandalous behaviour,” and seven were let go due to misconduct during patrol duties.
FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed described the move as part of the agency’s zero‑tolerance policy on indiscipline and ethical violations.
He emphasized that the FRSC, a paramilitary agency responsible for road safety across Nigeria, holds its badge as a symbol of honour and responsibility and will not hesitate to apply strict disciplinary measures when standards are violated.
In his statement, Mohammed warned that desertion especially in a safety‑critical organization tasked with protecting millions of road users represents a significant breach of duty.
He also said that behaviours undermining public confidence and institutional integrity would not be tolerated.
The FRSC has assured the public that it will strengthen internal monitoring and supervisory frameworks and intensify ethical training across all regional commands.
It also encouraged road users to maintain confidence in the Corps’ mandate to promote safer roads nationwide.
