Federal Intelligence Police Officers Apprehend Key Suspects In Otulu Ogwashi-Uku Unrest

Federal intelligence officers have successfully apprehended Francis Odiakose aka Francis Oduwanor, a notorious figure wanted for inciting violence and unrest in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku, along with one of his principal associates, Mr. Chiedu Agwada, known as “Dagger.”

Oduwanor has been on the run for two years, allegedly shielded from arrest by powerful government contacts, despite a 2022 declaration from the Delta State Government’s Security Council officially designating him as wanted due to escalating atrocities in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku.

Following an attack on the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, H.R.M Obi (Dr) Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II, Oduwanor unlawfully assumed the title of traditional ruler of Otulu Ogwashi-Uku, openly defying Delta State chieftaincy laws, and reportedly began a sustained campaign of intimidation and violence against the community and the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom at large.

Senior members of the Otulu community, speaking with our correspondent, detailed how associates of Oduwanor, who were recently released from custody, initiated a renewed campaign of terror, leading to the tragic deaths of two community members.

According to these community sources, Oduwanor’s associates, emboldened by what they claimed were high-level government connections that enabled their release, returned with a vengeance, subjecting Otulu Ogwashi-Uku to continued violence, forcing recognized traditional chief Anthony Enurah to flee for his safety.

Oduwanor’s arrest, along with other suspects found in possession of multiple sophisticated firearms and dangerous weapons, has provided a significant breakthrough for the Otulu Ogwashi-Uku community. Yet, local residents have appealed to the federal government for sustained action to capture all remaining perpetrators to ensure lasting peace and security.

Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, the Palace Secretary of the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, confirmed awareness of Oduwanor’s arrest and commended the police for their perseverance and dedication.

Emordi assured the Ogwashi-Uku community that the efforts to bring all responsible for the violence to justice would not be deterred by the suspects’ perceived influence or connections.

He urged the Inspector General of Police to accelerate efforts to apprehend those behind the recent incidents in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku, stressing the community’s right to peace and safety.

Community members now hope that these arrests will signal the start of a new era of stability, marking an end to the fear and unrest that has gripped Otulu Ogwashi-Uku.

The community remains steadfast in its appeal for continued governmental support to prevent any resurgence of violence or lawlessness.
