The meeting held at St Lazarus Christ Church International Ughelli Chapel and the venue was agog with celebration as the congregation welcomed the thespian.
Most Reverend Jonathan Arhavwarien, and other leaders and members of the St Lazarus Christ Church Int.Inc. were present.
Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi was accompanied by his lovely wife, Hon. Justice Sybil Gbagi, the deputy governorship candidate for the SDP Chief Mrs. Ishioma Rosemary Oshilim, the Delta state Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other executives of the party.
In welcoming the candidate, the Primate appealed to Gbagi to support the work of God in the Organization of African instituted Churches (OAIC).
Addressing the crowd, Gbagi recounted his experiences as a politician in Delta state.
He said he had major problems with the present administration because he is not a corrupt man.
He recounted several instances where fellow politicians tried to influence his office into corrupt acts.
Gbagi said: “There are so many rumors spread about me in order to tarnish my image and reputation, all because I refuse to succumb to corruption
“Everywhere I have worked, for some reason, they find it difficult to find a worthy replacement to wear my shoes.”
He added: “There is so much money in Delta, but it will take a man with entrepreneural mindset to milk the resources we have here in Delta and convert it to money to develop the state,” Gbagi told the church leaders.
In one year in office Gbagi has promised that if he is elected into office as Governor he will establish 40 factories in Ughelli North alone, maximizing the use of clay which is a very abundant resource in Ughelli North.
According to him, in a community where churches are more than industries that kind of arrangement is guaranteed poverty.
In order to stop our youths from continuing fraud, he promised to provide jobs that will take them off the streets, saying “I will pay youths 30 thousand Naira each monthly immediately I’m elected into office.”
Speaking on the general elections of 2023, Kenneth Gbagi spoke against the people voting in a Muslim president.
He endorsed the candidacy of Social Democratic Party presidential candidate Prince Adebayo Adewole and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
He said that as Christians, Nigerians should follow the right path and vote in Christian leaders to avoid repetition of the past governments errors.
He said the myopic views of former leaders, killed Delta state and ‘we need to rectify it in 2023 general elections.’
“I want to come as Governor to liberate Delta, if as a private individual I could create job opportunity for thousands of Deltans I can do better as governor.
After his speech, a prayer session was organised for the candidate to win the 2023 governorship election.
