President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, also designates the governor as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation.
In this capacity, Uzodimma will work with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governors nationwide to promote the programmes and achievements of the Tinubu administration.
As Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Uzodimma is expected to provide strategic coordination, strengthen unity within the party, and drive grassroots mobilisation. APC governors will also serve as Ambassadors of Hope alongside him.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy, the presidency stated that the governor’s central task will be to ensure that Nigerians are fully aware of the administration’s progress since 2023.
President Tinubu emphasized that the government’s reforms are producing tangible results, noting ongoing economic improvements including easing inflation, a stabilised exchange rate, and a rise in foreign reserves, which have grown to over $46 billion from the $32 billion recorded when he assumed office.
The President also referenced renewed investor confidence, increased activity in the oil and gas sector, strong performance in the stock market, diversification efforts in solid minerals, and the successful rollout of the new student loan scheme, which has enrolled more than 700,000 beneficiaries.
He further noted that the processing time for Nigerian passports has been reduced to less than one week.
In a message to Uzodimma, President Tinubu urged him to intensify engagement and ensure that the achievements of the administration are clearly communicated across the country.
