For refusal to obey the directive of the governmentt of Anambra state on resumption of schools, the state government has used the sledge hammer on Royal Ambassador Foundation School in the commercial hub of Onitsha.
The school authority violated the COVID-19 protocols of the government. The state government had warned all schools to resume on February 1, but rather than waiting till then, it resumed on January 18, 2021. The action violated the directive of the governor.
A release from the Anambra State Ministry of Basic Education signed by the Permanent Secretary Dr. Nwando Obiano, says the school allowed their students and pupils to resume on January 18, 2021 receiving lessons and without putting on face masks.
The statement maintained that the fragrant disobedience to government’s directive by the school is an indication that it is not serving the best interest of the education in the state as well as that of the students and pupils.
The release urged parents to withdraw their children from the school, adding that the school shall remain closed as its approval has been withdrawn.
Recall that the Anambra state government in his effort to contain the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic directed the students and pupils in the interest of their safety to remain at home till February 1, 2021.
According to the directive, schools are to take two weeks starting from January 18, 2021 to get all the COVID-19 protocols in place.
